FREE COMIC BOOK DAY!!

It's that time of the year again kids! Saturday May 1st! Be there or be square, cuz us comic book nerds are the coolest!
Stop by your local Comic shop and pick up a few free comics. Our favorite comic shop COMIX CONNECTION is located at the West Manchester Mall. They will be having all kinds of goodies on sale and also some "fabulous" (yes, I typed that!) give aways.
CC is trying to get some canned goods together for the local food bank, so in exchange for some food, you can get some extra comics! I think that is admirable.

There is also a War Machine Hero clix in anticipation of the Ironman 2 Sequel, to the 1st 200 crazies that roam through the door (One will be me!)
The counter monkeys will be handing out Peanut Chews and lots of attitude too!!
Bill and the guys are some of my favorite people. They put up with my ramblings with great respect, along with all my silly questions!
I got to meet the guys who wrote & drew The Stuff of Legend at the Baltimore Comicon last year. It's a really great story and the artwork is phenomenal. The Baltimore Comicon is a blast! I will have more info on this years con later....dude!

HALO: Reach

I am sure all of you have already seen the latest trailers for Reach, but because I am on dial up!!

I am days/weeks behind your excitement. I know there is a BETA trailer, which is way cool, but guess what? DIAL UP!!

Sam got me hooked on Halo when it first came out years ago. Even before he had his Xbox we would go to Gamestop and hang out and play Halo wars on the demo box. I LOVE Halo 3 : ODST. And HALO 3 isn't too bad either, so you can understand my excitement for Reach. We saw the world premiere trailer on the video game awards last year and with the anticipation comes even more trailers.

As I was watching Justified last night, a newer trailer came on which showed Carter the new guy getting ready to become a Spartan III. He was injected with his mutation serum and as we watch his muscles bulge, we see him looking back on his enlistment, then rising from the gurney to approach his new Spartan III suit. It's vague, but cool & exciting.

HALO: Reach drops in the Fall. And from what I have read, there is a Special Edition : ) BAZINGA!

RE-demption?

Ok, so who says riding a horse isn't fun? I had so much fun riding the horses around in Assassins Creed that when I caught wind of Red Dead Redemption I had to have it! (Reserve your copy at Gamstop b4 it comes out!)
Riding horses isn't the only thing you get to do in this Rockstar game. Galloping through the wild west trying to catch up with your old gang just to murder them sounds like much more fun then just riding your horse around....ok, ok. : )
The main character has to find his old gang members and kill them or his wife and child will be hung. How bout that? Now he's your hero isn't he? Not just some crazy heathen!
The game is from what I have read very broad and really drags you into experiencing life in the old west. Utilizing weapondry, horses, primitive machines and really making you work to get to the end of the game.
There is also the morality issue that I like having in my games. Should I kill him or turn him in? You also get to have fun exploring your enviroment and participating in ambushes, fighting wild animals and saving civilians from criminals for FAME points. It sounds a bit like a role playing game, but it is not.
I am really looking forward to it's release.

If you enjoy movies like Young Guns, Tombstone or Unforgiven you will definitely enjoy this game. Or if you just like to ride the CGI horse around....: )

Game gallops into stores with guns blazing (ya, cheesy!) on May. 18
Rockstar games. The makers of Grand Theft Auto.
Rated M for mature.

The Girls are back in town!!

You have no idea how excited I am about this movie. Boys just won't understand!
It's about friendship, FASHION and footwear.
Carrie is a fashion icon and I look up to her character. She is a strong, independant person who well, is now married to Mr. Big, but that's ok too....
The entire story is a fairy tale, but chics dig it.
I have all DVD's and the last movie, so this new flick will be so exciting!!
There are 1000's of fan site's on the web and 100's of shops that "carrie" fashion items inspired by the hit show.
I have a replica of the flower ring that Samantha wears in the last movie.
Get out your Monolo Blahnik's and swagger to the movie with a bunch of your friends.

Ironman 2

I have been drooling over this movie for months now!
I loved, LOVED the first installment of Ironman and adore Robert Downey Jr. (Make sure you check out Sherlock Holmes!)
Sam is a huge Ironman fan, so he is pretty excited about this movie too.
The new villans are Whiplash, played by Mickey Rourke (Not sure about this) and Black Widow (not sure about his either) played by Scarlet Johanson. I am looking forward to Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury. He makes every movie cool! The newest trailer is kick ass with "Roadey" in his War Machine suit. LOVE War Machine! And as always we get to hear AC/DC jam to gun fights.
Directed by Jon Favreau
In theaters May 7.

Predators

I recently heard a very cool rumor through the guys at the comic book store that there is a new Predator movie coming out. I did some research and YES!! It is true. I have also recently seen the trailer on REELZ.
It is not a remake of Predator, but a new story.
Sam recenlty bought Aliens VS Predator for his XBOX and it is really a slick game, I am thinking this movie has something to do with the game.
It is directed by Robert Rodriguez. Stars Adrian Brody, Topher Grace, Lawrence Fishburne and a few other characters you will recognize.
The premise for the flick is that a small group of people are abducted from our planet and dropped on another planet onto a game reserve.
Unfortunately for them, they come to realize that they are the game and are being hunted by an alien of some kind.
The trailer reveals a little too much, but I am still pretty excited. I have always loved the alien/predator franchise. The movies scared the bajesus outta me and that is what makes them good movies. Not the special effects (bah!), but the story and how scary it is. : )
Showing up in a theater near you July 7th and is Rated R for the obvious reasons.

December. 6, 1973

Was the date that Suzy Salmon died. She was 14. The Lovely Bones is the most beautiful story I have ever seen. And as you all know I have watched a lot of movies.
It was tragic and unexpected. Mark Wahlburg and Rachel Weiz did a superb job as Mr. & Mrs. Salmon. You feel their pain and loss, yet there hope and love for their daughter.
I was tremendously moved by this movie. It was real, honest and stunning. It wisked me away to a place that I hope all that are gone from this world are at.
Stanley Tucci is the bad guy and he sure gave me the willies. And don't worry, Karma gives him his up and comings.
Definately rent this one. It's worth it 10 times over. Keep tissues near by.
Directed by Peter Jackson.
Out today on DVD and Blu Ray.
Rated PG-13.

Brothers to the End.....

B
Unbelievable! This news dropped and for some reason I just found out. I am going to have to slap the guys around at Gamestop!
Looks like this will be the final battle for Dom and Marcus. And finally a bad ass chick gear!!
Gears of War 1 & 2 are a blast to play. We are working on getting through them on hardcore. And we are on 27 of horde. Only because we have to stop there when it gets to late. It's so addictive!!
Now we have another chapter to get all bajiggidy about. I LOVE Gears. I love everything about the game. The brotherhood, the cinematics, the locusts, the gore, the snarky remarks from Baird annnnd the Chainsaw gun! Even with all the boomers, I still wield my chainsaw gun. Well and sometimes the sniper rifle. It's fun to work as a team sniping the heads from our enemies!
Sam is a great gunslinger, a dead eye to be exact, so I never go into battle without him at my side. We have a blast! He barks out orders to me like it's the real thing and all I can do is smirk and do what he says! Because, hey, who is going to revive me when I stay in the way of bullets for too long? Or get tagged by a torque bow arrow? : )
Looks like GOW3 is "scheduled" to hit stores in April of 2011. In the meantime, if you have not played any of the GOW games, stop by your local gamestop (yes, this is a plug!) and grab a used copy for $9.99.
You can see the way cool and exciting trailer for GOW3. Ashes to Ashes. Plus download cool new computer graphics and check out all the scrumptious info on the games.

Imagine a Meeting...

A meeting of all the biggest actions stars you have ever seen at the theater.....well, if you can remember them all, cool, if not, then check out The Expendables. A flick about a group of Covert Mercenaries done with a job, but find themselves sucked into rescuing a woman that has been kidnapped by a cartel and held hostage.

Here is the run down, don't get too excited. Some of these actors... really can't act....ok, ok, NONE of them can act, but they got great gunslingin' skills and don't look too bad with their shirts off either! : )

Dolph Ludgren, Sylvestor Stallone, Arnie Shwartzenegger, Jet Li, Mickey Rourke, Steve Austin, Danny Trejilo, Jason Statham, Eric Roberts and Terry Crews (Gamer).

The trailer was pretty cool, with loads of death and plenty of crap blowing up.
Hitting theaters August 19th. Rated R for the pretty obvious reasons.
Check out the website for more info and the movie trailer.

It Kicked Ass!

Sam and I went to see this flick today and it was KICK ASS! We loved it! It had great characters, a very good story and tons of great action. The first 10 minutes were a bit awkward as it was all about tissue and lotion....(GET IT?) The movie is after all about teenagers and all the problems that go along with it.
Dave (Kick ass) narrates most of the movie which gives it depth and movement. As the ball gets rolling, we find that it's not all about him.
I think HIT GIRL is the best and my favorite character. She is trippy, honest and quite violent. Maybe in need of some proper manners? She wields a butterfly knife better then Bruce lee! Scary. She does however take a beating in one scene that really disturbs me. And when she comes to the rescue of her father, it's a blood bath by an 11 year old girl who knows how to quickly drop the bad guys. It made me twitch a bit and brought me back to the days of Lara Croft. Except Hit Girl was brain washed by her father, an ex cop, into hating these men and wanting them all dead for killing the mother she never knew.
There were tons of funny pubescent, goofy moment's and a lot of fighting and the occasional tragedy. All in all, I really liked this movie and would go and see it again. Even the music was a bit twisted! As was Big Daddy. It was definitely entertaining! The story is nothing what you think and as the movie unravels you realize you are in for something of a different ride!

You will recognize most of the generic bad guys. They seem to show up in all these movies. The only one I did not see was Danny Trejilo!
Based on the comic book of the same name by Mark Millar and John Romita, Jr
Rated R for all the obvious reasons.

Kill Them All!

So we have gotten to the season finale and I am slightly impressed.

The series took an interesting turn pretty far in to the story as Spartacus is forced to kill his best friend for entertainment.
And the wife of the man that took Spartacus' wife from him, requested "stud service" with Krixis only to find that the man she is laying with is Spartacus. Treachery!!! They were wearing masks...I was even angered!

Spartacus was filled with visual eye candy, but that is not all I expected from this series. I really wanted it to have a sensuality and depth, I am afraid it got lost some where trying to create something like 300. It was concrete and mannequins. I was just bored.
But I came back every Friday night as most people did hoping that it would get more exciting. I love this part of our history. Rome and Greece with all it's over indulgence and power.

There is a second season planned, but I am not certain where they will go. The finale was Spartacus and his fellow gladiators killing everyone! I am hoping it will be more exciting then the first and I will be there to find out. I am curious....
You can read a really great write up about Spartacus here: http://www.blogger.com/upload-image.g?blogID=3007423930156356175
On a more tragic note, Andy Whitfield who plays Spartacus is under going

treatment for leukemia. We send out our well wishes and hope he makes a full recovery. : )

True Blood Season 3

I am so ready to get on with the new season! This is one of the best series I have seen on a premium channel since The Sopranos. HBO has done it again.
Season 1 & 2 have been so exciting and at the end of season 2, Bill asked Sookie to marry him and then when she went to use the powder room to ponder the question, someone kidnapped Bill!! Season 2 was crazy!

All of you TRUE BLOOD fans will get the poster!
New season starts June 13.
Sunday's at 9 on HBO.

Alrighty then...

I decided to start this blog to keep my conservatory efforts and crazy gaming and movie opinions seperate. I felt conflicted! : )

So you can always visit my other blog :

In the meantime come back every day to read all the stupid and crazy things I post without distracting from my animal posts.
